Mr Wright, 31 year old ex-L/Sgt. of the Royal Engineers, received serious wounds in Normandy within 48 hours of the D-Day invasion and was discharged from the Army in December 1944. Owing to paralysis of both legs, he has since had to travel in a mechanical chair. Before the vehicle was driven away, he was congratulated by two of his disabled friends, Mr E. Blount and Mr S. Gregory.
